Pregnancy Symptoms???

Well, it's started.

I've started to obsess about my symptoms already.

I'm 4dp5dt today, so our embryos should be implanting today, if indeed they continued to grow and divide and hatch, like I pray they did.

So that means the symptoms 'could' start any day now. Although, maybe, realistically not for 2 or 3 more days. But how would I know? I've never had any real symptoms before. Only 'trick' symptoms as I've always called them. The kind that either get our hopes up, or the kind that freak us and crush us because not enough is happening.

Right now I'm in the freak out stage. There are no tugging sensations or implantation cramps. There are no sore breasts or nausea. Granted, I know it's still too early, and some women feel no sensations or symptoms at all, but....

I can't help it. I'm obsessed already.

And I'm scared.

I just want to feel something so I know it's working.

So let's dissect them, shall we? Here are the signs and symptoms that lots of women say they experience in the 2ww.

-- Twinges/cramps/aches in the abdomen
-- Bloated abdomen
-- Gassy
-- Spotting (light brown is good, red is bad)
-- Implantation Bleeding
-- Sore boobs
-- Veins become more apparent
-- Peeing More
-- Feeling hot/elevated temperature
-- Nipples/areolas darken
-- Feeling dizzy/lightheaded
-- Indigestion
-- Fatigue
-- Sensitivity to Smell
-- Food Cravings/Aversions
-- Heartburn
-- Constipation
-- Mood Swings/ Irritability

But the progesterone and estrogen that I'm on right now can also mimic some of these signs. And some of the cramping/bloating can still be left over from the stim meds and the Egg Retrieval.

I'm going crazy!!

Ladies, please obsess with me if you will. Especially for those of you who got a BFP!

What signs and symptoms did you feel? Did you have implantation bleeding? Could you feel the tugging or implantation cramping? How many of you felt any of the above symptoms? How many of you felt nothing?

I swear this 2ww is pure torture!

Lisa- It's absolute torture, I know. Even your DH probably can't relate to someone sneaking away from the dinner table to examine your boobs in the mirror to see if they look bigger. Sigh.

Here's my report:

Been pregnant 3 times, 2 natural, 1 IVF.

With the naturals, I felt nausea and very mild sore boobs weeks into it...like 6-8 weeks.

During my 2ww with the IVF, I felt NOTHING. Seriously. Absolutely nothing. And it was a BFP. In 2 additional, later IVF cycles, I thought I felt pregnant but they were BFN.

So, there you go.

Just a thought: if everyone could feel pregnancy early, like 2 week early, there would be a lot less of the usual Oh, my god, I missed my period kind of stuff happening. With my friends who have easy pregnancies, it seems that they have fewer "symptoms" so it might be that your lack of strong symptoms means an easy, trouble free pregnancy :)

I keep you in my thoughts daily. I guess you are back at home now and I hope you enjoy this beautiful sunshine-

Stay strong.

Hey Lisa,

I hear ya - the obsession with EVERY twinge in your body can drive you crazy.

I've had 3 BFPs (nothing made it far enough, but at least the BFPs did happen).

The ONLY thing I ever felt was the bloating from the stims. I continued to stay bloated and uncomfortable. By the time I got my BFP, I couldn't fit into my pants anymore (no I'm not imagining this)

Other than that - no other symptom at all.

Like Annie said - there would be no surprise Oh my god I missed my period pregnancies if everyone had early symptoms.

And anyway PIO messes with our systems in its own way.

You just have a few more days to go! Hanging on with you!! :-)

I had a lot of cramping--right on the days that it SHOULD have been implantation for a day 3 transfer and we got a BFN. So I don't think no symptoms mean anything at all.
The good news is--you can start testing very soon (I know some women get their BFP on 5dp5dt)...I've got EVERYTHING crossed for you!

Waiting and obsessing right with you! Sorry to say that my sucessful (natural) pg I had NO symptoms early on, certainly no spotting or any signs of implantation. Glad you are home with your baby dog and honey, hopefully you have some fun Thanksgiving plans to distract you a bit. When is the beta? Praying and hoping!!!

Yup! The 2WW is brutal. When I was pregnant, I did have a few signs:

-- felt nauseaus and shaky if I went too long without eating. (Although this was early, could have been nothing.)

-- very sore back early on in 2ww

-- cramping, like AF was coming at 4dpt.

-- 6dpt: backache, cramps, unusually tired, hungry for pizza (and I never eat pizza).

-- 8dpt: backaches, but convinced AF was coming.

-- 9dpt: absolutely starving. Got first +hpt that night.

I sure hope this works for you, Lisa. I am wishing with all my heart.

Hugs!!

Erin

I have been pregnant twice. With both I had no signs until week 7, when the nausea/vomiting kicked in. Other than that, I had absolutely nothing. Nada.

Wishing for a BFP for you.

I had 2 successful pregnancies.

For my first one: I didn't really feel anything until 20dpo. Then my breasts became very tender & i was sleeping the entire time.

For my second pregnancy: I had implantation bleeding but that's it. I just slept for the entire first 3 months....

I know how it is to wait for the first 2 weeks!!!! It is normal at this point not feel anything. As far as I am concerned, no news is good news.

You have been waiting for so long. You just have a couple more days to go. So hang in there and take care of yourself :)

I had implantation bleeding and it was a really light pink, so it's not always brown. Other than that, I just felt really tired early on. I actually didn't even have the implantation bleeding until after my BFP.

Lisa,
My last IVF (which unfortunately ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks) I felt NOTHING and was so convinced that I was not pregnant that I cried incessantly. Not only that, but I was a bit hyperstimmed and drank so much water that when I cheated at POAS it was NEGATIVE. Like negative on 6 different tests. I was shocked to find out I was pregnant given I had no signs and symptoms and that my test was negative. I am also in my 2WW right now and given my past experience, I am just thinking positive vibes, will NOT POAS, and will just go for my test and stay optimistic.

Good luck to you...I've been reading along with you every step of the way and think you are amazing and hope that it works!!!!

Hi Lisa,

I had a BFN, and I'm not going to share those symptoms because everyone was telling me that they were pregnancy symptoms at the time...I really think that almost ALL symptoms could go either way. I'm not even going to say "try not to drive yourself crazy thinking about it" because I also know that is an impossible task. So, basically, I have nothing constructive to offer...how's that for a lame comment :-).

I did want to thank you for the comment on my adoption post...good to know that for the record, we should be "over" our infertility issues. Give me a break - Like some of those issues won't go to the grave with us...but, don't get me wrong - I'm COMPLETELY comfortable with lying in this case. It's not our problem that the agencies our so out-of-touch with reality!

Again - thanks for the tip!

I felt very little that I couldn't attribute to the IVF meds. My ovaries started hurting again...which could be from going back to normal size, I was bloated, I was cranky, sleepy, etc. The only thing different this time was implantation bleeding on 5dp3dt, 6dp3dt, and 7dp3dt. It was brown spotting. But, they say only 30% of BFP's have implantation spotting. Sorry I can't be much more help. It took a few days after my beta for the nausea, sore bbs, etc to kick in. I tried so hard not to look for symptoms this last time...but it never works. Good luck making it through the 2ww! Can't wait to hear your BFP.

I'm so sorry, these are the hardest days!!!

I did have implantation bleeding BUT it wasn't until 8dp5dt and 90 min AFTER I tested! so that sign wasn't helpful. But, I did have alot of pulling sensations, very different from AF cramps, down the center vertically from belly button straight down and then on the sides where my under hits my leg. Those pains were what really had me convinced and got me to test.

Good Luck, hang in there

I don't have much advice to offer as I have never even made it to the 2WW myself (at least during an IVF cycle). I know when I used to think I could get pregnant during our blissfully naive first year, I imagined all sorts of symptoms and none of those turned out to be anything. So I say no symptoms yet is a good thing. I can only imagine what you're going through. I totally obsess about things too. Your beta will be here before you know it.

Are you going to test before????

I had absolutely NO symptoms at all. In fact, my whole pregnancy was pretty much symptom free until the last 10 weeks or so. I hope this makes you feel a bit better! -Your IVF friend.

No symptoms here (other than batcrazy paranoia) until 17dpo, when the all-day death sickness kicked in.
I broke down and tested at 12dpo or 6dp6dt (our frosties were frozen on day 6) and it came up +. Tested again at 14dpo before my beta b/c I did NOT want to hear crap news from the nurse.

I have never had a BFP, but have had every pregnancy symptom on the planet, right down to spotting on 4dp3dt. During my last IVF 2ww obsession, I listed all my symptoms and cross checked them with all my meds and could find a justified reason for every last one of them.

Unfortunately, I think there is no real way to know until you pee on the stick or get the beta.

I have so much hope for you, Lisa. Hang in there!!!

I have had one BFP after IVF and I don't think I had any real symptoms. I do remember a few days before the beta test, I swore I was going to start my period. Other than that, I can't remember having any symptoms. I have also had 2 BFN's after IVF and there was no difference in the 2ww. I am currently in the middle of my 2ww with our last try for a sibling for my daughter. You would think having been through this so many times I wouldn't obsess so much, but I am. It is just part of the process unfortunately.

I had my first child in 2004, conceived through a fresh IVF cycle. Did HcG blood test 12 days pt and I was totally surprised to learn I was pg. I HAD ZERO, NADA, ZERO symptoms. When I went for the ultrasound 3dpt and found out my endometrial lining pattern hadn't changed, I gave up and assumed it didn't work.

I just had an IVF transfer (frozen cycle) 8 days ago. Again, I have zero symptoms. Because 12dpt is Sunday, they've asked me to do blood on Saturday. I'm thinking there's no way I'm pregnant and those were our last embryos -- so if I'm not pg, that's the end of the line for us. I had a failed cycle in October which sucked the life out of me, and I cannot do this ever again. We're grateful we have our one daughter, and at least we'll have closure.

good luck to all the rest of you.
